I am looking to buy a 3rd Gen 4Runner. Grew up with a Land Cruiser in the family (loved it), and my brother currently owns an '04 Sport. I've spent some time reading these forums (and others) to try to get a feel for what to expect, potential problems, pricing etc. I'd love to find a '99, but my budget for this purchase won't cover one. I have located a '97 4x4 SR5 in NJ with 182k miles. The owner is asking $4200. I suspect I can get him lower than that. The truck has been garage kept, roof rack, remote start, 2" towing package (claims never used), new plugs, wires and shocks this year. Not sure yet if it has the elock.
I haven't been to see it in person yet, but based on the above, I would love to get some preliminary impressions from you guys. Any input would be much appreciated!
