Hey guys just wanted to introduce myself.
My name is cole and I am located in Santa Clara CA.
I am a total forum rat and have been lurking here since a started searching for a 1st gen. I come from the german car scene and am good with turbos and fixing BS german engineering!!
My previous baby was a lowered 2001 audi a4 1.8t..... lol not stock.

I now competitively rock climb (sport normally, did my first trad last weekend!!) and decided I would go the opposite direction with my ride.
I've always liked 1st gen runners and I looked for months and finally found her after 6 months of searching. (will post pics when I figure the forum out, posting pics should be a sticky in the new member forum)
I paid $2500 for a 1989 grey rig with 225000 miles on the clock but a newer 1993 v6 with (owner claimed) 20000 ish miles.
Being a car guy I am always suspicious of undocumented swaps (this guy was the second owner and didnt know s***). I went over everything I could think of. CVs looked good, no real leaks (though now I discovered the rear diff leaks and ordered a new seal), tranny shifted smooth 4wd worked but overall a fantastic buy. but of course the back window doesnt work (short in the wiring harnes... trust me i build robots in my spare time... its not a faulty connection somewhere I checked)
First real test was getting her home because I bought her in seattle and drove her down to santa clara CA. 880 miles....... and it was 105 degrees going over grants pass in oregon and she ran cool and smooth the whole way! even averaged about 20 mpg on I5.
I will probably start a build thread for her because i am a mechanical engineer and HAVE to tinker, though it will be mild she is my DD.
Not sure how many people read the new member section but if you see me around the 1st gen section just know I am a total NEWB to wheeling and may have some dumb qs but I am no newb to wrenching....
