New to the site & DRL disable

Hey all,

Just a few things, I am new to the site and just got my first 4Runner. I have read a lot about DRL and just wanted to let you all know, I went to my local dealer and they used a scan tool and in 2 minuets turned off my DRL. No cutting wires or changing flashers needed. I will try to get some photos out soon. Thank for all the great info.

So are they off all the time or just when it's in park.

I would'nt want to be without my DRL's at all but wish they went off while vehicle was in park but with the engine still running. I reaaly don't want to mess with changing wiring , but really need them off in park while running.

It's always been easy to disable them, most dealers will do it for you, but some of them charge and some will tell you it can't be done. I guess when you pay $40 for it, they give you the option.

Adding DRL's is another story...

The DRL are now off all the time. I guess you could wire them to your parking light but I don't know if it can be done. The second thing is that your dashboard light are always on, they can not be turned off. You could always set the parking brake but you need to remember to disengage it when you move. It was more important to me to have them off while inside with the engine running without having to remember the break. so I gave them up all together.

You may already know this, but if you place your vehicle in park, shut off the engine, set your parking brake and restart the engine, the DRL's will be off while you are in park and the engine is running. Then when you get ready to go, disengage the parking brake and the DRL's will come back on.
