New Today. Have questions

Hello all,

I just took delivery of a new 2008 Limited V6 4WD today. I had the dealer throw in a weight dist hitch as I pull a boat with a gross weight of about 3500 lbs with the trailer (it's the same hitch that comes with the V8). I pulled this same boat with an 02 4runner with no known problems.

I know the manual on the V6 shows 5000lb tow capacity but I have been told and have read that with the WDH the capacity goes up to 6500lbs. Is there any truth to that?

Also some have suggested a tranny cooler be added. Is there a preffered brand?

Congrats on the new T4R! :bigok:

You are correct, the WDH limit is higher, I can't remember if it is 6200 or 6500lbs but that's the ballpark.

Here's a good t-cooler thread: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17358 FYI, Toyota claims no need for an aux cooler on the V6 but they do recommend a 60k trans fluid change vs never if you don't tow. I am old school, I installed an aux cooler and I'll change my fluid at 45k.
