New Trail Edition in Texas

Hi, new owner of a Trail Edition down here in Texas, has NAV and the KDSS and that's it. Apparently it was sitting in the showroom at an Austin dealer for 3 weeks so I made an offer and picked it up. It will serve primarily family hauling duty, and double as a secondary expedition rig.

I am afraid it may have a bit of bad luck tho, got a flat tire within the first 550 miles and then got a door ding at mile 620!

It will get a complete suspension swap once Doug over at Toytec figures out a total complete system, along with some custom sliders and some 285's at some point in the next 6 months. Just enough for me to feel comfortable riding some light trails and make the woman happy with how it looks. :reddance:

BTW the reason it won't be wheeling is cause THIS is my wheeling vehicle...

Was this the one at C Maund? I went in to look at it, but the sales people totally turned me off. Found another dealer and found one coming in to port and had it within a week.

Yeah it was. The internet sales guy was real receptive, didn't know anything about it but was willing to make a deal. I ended up paying $250 over invoice for it so I felt good in the end about the deal.

I didn't know they had come up with a full suspension system. I will have to give them a call.

Why yes, yes I was. I am the president of the Toyota Trail Riders here in DFW, the club that puts on the Lone Star Jamboree. I do love me some Toyota's and wheeling!

Congrats. Here in Chicago you'd have to drive for 3 weeks to find one TE for sale.

Do you live in College Station at the moment? I have to say that finding a 4x4 here in TX is a pain...you wouldn't think so ..But I am coming to the conclusion that instead of 4x2 being an option...4x4 is an option here in TX...ahhhhh so anoying

I Live in CS/Bryan Area, and I am currently waiting on a an SR5 4x4 with Th (third row seat option)....i am not sure when its going to come (haven't gotten the awaited call frmo my dealer) but I have been waiting since January.......Its taking its time that's for sure!

No I am in DFW. I really think you should get out there and find the truck yourself. Start small and just start expanding your search. Check out Mason, Huntsville and Waco to start, then expand your search to the Houston Dealers. I found mine in Austin of all places. Good luck!

LOL! Cool, I do most of the bolt on's (lift, sliders, bumpers) and electrical (lights, wenches myself, but I do need to replace a steering pump on my Tacoma soon... :naughty:

BTW if you want to get out and meet some fellow toyota enthusiasts around the DFW area visit Toyotatrailriders.com. We are having a meeting tomorrow night at Pappa's BBQ in Dallas with the Lone Star Land Cruisers to show off all our 4x4 Toyota's and talk about our upcoming wheeling trips. I will either be in the Runner or a 1978 right hand drive FJ40, which ever I feel up to driving tomorrow night.
