New Truck - Lots Done To It

Marks 4Runner

New member
Just purchased this 2004 Toyota 4Runner Sport, V8 with 110,000 miles on it. This is my third 4runner after previously having two 1997 SR5 5speed 4Runners. As you see in the photo I towed Uhuals biggest covered trailer fully loaded for just under 1000 miles (SC to New England) a week after purchasing the truck. The work I have done myself so far ...

-Front Rotors and Pads (Nappa high performance rotors, dealer pads)
-Serpentine belt
-Timing belt (Full kit with water pump and pulleys all OEM)
-Undercoated the frame
-Added WS tranny fluid after accidentally leaking some when changing the timing belt.
-Replaced front fender wheel well covers.
-Rebooted and greased my inner right CV joint.
-Cabin air filter and cabin fan.
-Tire balance, rotation, and alignment (This was done at Firestone)

Other than the timing belt, rebooting my axle was a more complicated job.

Looks like you have been busy.

I know people don't want to reboot the cv axles because its messy, but I like to do it knowing that there is the right grease in there.

How hard was it? I have rebooted axles on numerous Audi's.

Its not bad at all really, its just tedious, messy work.

Not too bad, the hardest part for me was that I forgot to take the C clip off the end of the joint so I hammered away with the punch for a while forgetting there was that clip. Once I removed it the joint practically popped off. I bought the rebuild kit from Napa.
