Our upper shelf is now available! This is a great option for those that want room for larger gear (or dogs) below the storage shelf.

Universal Upper Shelf - Victory 4x4

Designed to maximize space in the rear cargo area. Adds storage and mounts up high to allow for larger gear to still be loaded in the cargo area.

• Bolt-together assembly
• Coated in a 2 stage satin textured black powder coat
• Includes assembly and mounting hardware
• 5th Gen 4Runner requires two Rear Window MOLLE Panels to mount (due to the single mounting point up top)
• Made from .125" steel.

Looks nice, but I wish someone made one that did not require the window Molle panels. Even with tinted windows stuff can still be easily visible on the window panels making it a target for a broke window in some areas.

I was thinking of how else this could be mounted sans side panels, and then I started thinking about how what happens if the side curtain airbags go off with these installed, side panels or not. Kinda scary if any of the mounts break off during deployment and where they would go.

Just use the Blue Ridge overland storage attic to put clothing, jackets storage etc. spending a grand for side panels and a storage shelf with 6 inches of clearance is absurd IMO.

I have no problem paying for quality. (Paid over $1k for my rack and sliders each)

What justifies the price here? I just don't see it.

No, he just doesn’t want to spend $300+ on a nice to have item that requires purchasing two more panels for another $600 just to store a jacket and plastic storage box. And don’t assume people are spending $50k on their rigs...mine was purchased CPO for 32k two years ago. Generalize much?

to each and their own. For me, i can justify the prefabricated shelf systems, from rago or victory, after building something similar from home depot.... My DIY project showed how useful a shelf can be while camping, and why my DIY project ultimately sucked compared to what rago or victory is offering. After testing my DIY shelf, I went and bought the rago shelf.

I have the blue ridge overland attic also...and I wasn't too happy with it either. It sagged under load, blocked rear vision, bothered rear passengers, and things would bounce out of it if you didnt properly secure the paracord. Everyone that i know that had this, eventually sold it or is collecting dust in the garage somewhere.

Not saying one is better than the other, since they both serve a purpose. Just one system worked out better for me than the other.

I replaced the plastic clips with aluminum carabiners on my BRO attic and secured it super tight. Mine doesn’t sag, and with soft bungee straps, things stay put. And the best part, it wasn’t $1k. Can i ask what exactly you guys are fitting on top of your shelf with 6” of storage space?

50K??? you got ripped TF of bro, 35k for an SR5, front and rear air lockers plus lift and tires 45 for a monster tops, less if you can do diffs/ regearing your self.

I do not drive a TRD Pro as I would rather buy a lower version and replace all the stuff with higher quality options rather than the midgrade goofy shit the TRD Pro has, for far less money, the only thing you lose is color options (who cares).

For reference, I purchased a similar shelf for my 200 series Land Cruiser from a company called Kaon based out of Australia. Since the LC has a 3rd row with grab handles the unit is stand alone and does not require use of accessory side molle panels. The unit is made in Australia. I paid $335 USD Shipped with UPS international shipping accounting for $138 of that and it arrived to my door in 5 days all the way from AU.

By comparison I feel like the Kaon is a bargain since it doesn't require the extra side molle panels and it was only slightly more than the Victory rack and much cheaper than the Rago rack despite international shipping. I feel like the Victory and Rago units could be a bit cheaper and I hope they at least give you bundle discounts since you have the get their side panels too.

agreed if you buy top of the line for all stock bells and whistles that some one else picked out for you with out thinking about cost for said bells and whistles... this is chump change. But if you want the best bang for you buck buy only want you want/need.

i have another companies mollie panels and they work well enough for my purposes, however I have the victory rear bumper and dual swings, their build is spot on, but the powder coat won't last long in the NE.. just saying get that shit done local if you're in the rust belt... zinc pre coat is a must.

that said, this isn't an exterior product.... so i'd chance it if I had a need.

I need more places to store all the recovery gear I don't use.
