I'm just happy as a clam with my newest 4Runner. I just purchased a 2005 Sport Edition with 4 wheel drive and V6. I had to buy from a dealer in West Virginia to find a Stratosphere Mica Blue. Why are they so hard to find? The only states I could find them were in Virginia or West Virginia. It took about 2 months of hard searching on the internet to find just the right package and price. It took me 3 years to find my 1996 4Runner I just sold with 289,000 miles on it. Can you believe a guy from Hawaii bought from me in Georgia, and had it shipped to Hawaii to the tune on $1,900? He said it will still save him $1,000-$2,000. Anyway, I am very happy so far with my new ride. I just had the first oil change. Then, the maint light came on, which indicates it needs an oil change. So, why did it decide to come on only after I had the oil changed? The mileage is in line with what I expected so far with an average of 20.5. I expect it will get better with time as my last one did. The bigger gas tank, 23 vs 18.5, is much better. I am dissappointed the JBL Stereo is not as great as I read about. And, the sunroof can only be opened either all or none. My last model let it go any size opening, or half way. The engine compartment is much less cramped. I like not having a radio antennae too. The V6 is very smooth and the 5 speed is too. I pulled a trailer for about 40 miles, and it really drained the gas mileage considerably. The ride is far superior to my old T4R and handling in curves is much better. Also, it is not as noisy in the cabin.

So, you think it might be a factory problem not letting the sunroof have variable opening? I've never heard of an ashtray kit or stainless door sills. Where did you get them? I really wanted the charcoal XSP seats with a combination leather/suede, but haven't found anyone that does them yet. Most dealers don't have a clue what that is.

One side effect of the Servco distributor/retailer monopoly in Hawaii is that our resale values for Toyotas tend to be higher. Toyota also has the highest market share in Hawaii of any manufacturer, so there's ample demand.
A lot of used car dealers in Hawaii purchase Toyotas from used-car auctions on the mainland and have them shipped here.
Not sure how much you sold your '96 for, but I've seen several listed in the newspaper for around $7K - 9K.

No... try holding the button down longer. The sunroof has one-touch open and close. If you press and release, it will go all the way. I think if you hold it down longer, it should stop where you let go of the button. The book also says that if you press and release to let it open/close all the way, you can press the button again to stop it.akent said:

As mentioned above, you're activating the one-touch feature, fully open or close on the sunroof. The ashtray kit goes on the pocket to next to the shifter. Ashtray pic. Here's the door sills, from Burtman Industries. XSP I think was a package offered by a regional distributor, I'm tempted to say Southeast Toyota or Gulf States. You might be able to have an aftermarket leather company like Classic Soft Trim set something like XSP up for you.

Thanks Toto and Uneek for the responses. The door sills are great.I think I will get them. I tried this with the sunroof, and it worked like it should. Thanks! I'm still getting used to the new toys. You got all the goodies with your's! I did get all the extras, just the JBL, remote/headphones in rear, V6, running boards, spoiler, tow pkg, sunroof, 4x4. I would have liked the GPS and compass. But, it is much cheaper to just buy a Garmin 330C for $459. I used my sister's when bringing it back to GA from West Virginia. It was awesome!!! No need for maps. And, it told me how to get to restaurants too.
