Just wanted to take a quick moment and introduce myself as I have been lurking on here for the last few months. Back in November I lost my job, and hence the company car. So, I was desperately in need of a vehicle to drive around. I've always had a thing for the 3rd generation 4runners, and so I took this chance to go get my new rig. I have a friend that has a '96 going strong with close to 300k, and another who has a '98 with just over 200k. So, to make a long story short, I found a '97 limited 4wd with 120k for a great deal and made the leap in December. It needed some new rotors, (and let's be honest, I am no mechanic) but I grabbed my friend and put on some new rotors and brakes with his help. After building up a little confidence, I knew the contacts in the starter were going out after researching this forum. So, I bought a Haynes manual and 4 hours later with no help it was running better than ever. I recently took a trip to Vegas to visit some friends who had some pretty decent stereo equipment. After a quick comment as to how that good equipment was going to waste, I took a few hours with them, they gifted it to me, and we installed it. Gotta love friends.
