The NAV system is outstanding! It might not be aftermarket level, but it's better than several other OEM systems I'm familiar with.

We hadn't used the guide/route assistance yet - totally dig on how it splits the screen and shows visual cues at major intersections (and it went into 2.5D mode to show the 95/295 juncture.

I'm also really pleased with the JBL audio setup and the MP3 features (like folder listing). Makes creating disks very simple.

The BT phone connection works really terrific (I'm connecting with a Tilt/8529 which also broadcasts the signal and battery strength).

I was a bit surprised though that many of the phone features disable over 5MPH (or over 0 whatever the breakpoint is). I figured handsfree was sort of the point, so why disable anything? It appears that Quick Dial is available though, and since my calls are typically to the same 2 or 3 numbers, that will work fine.

Any **secret** hacks or "tricks" on the NAV system I need to know about?

Very Nice. I have the Shadow Mica as well. I wanted to put a skit plate on the front of mine as well. I looked through some of the threads and saw the install in the mod section but their tow hooks are straight out. On the 08, they are bent down. I was wondering if you could take a close up of where they mounted your skid plats to the tow hooks or wherever else they mounted them. Thank you very much.

Any **secret** hacks or "tricks" on the NAV system I need to know about?

I got very annoyed with this lockout thing. Not an issue when I'm alone but with a passenger it was extremely irritating. So I eventually made a new DVD with the old firmware and the new maps on it. This gives you the ability to override the system by touching the menu/volume/upperleft/lower left corners and then you are unlocked until you restart the vehicle.

There was someone at one time who clipped the speed sensor wire. This can be done as the nav uses it only when you are in tunnel or parking garage and will relock onto a satellite when you are out in the open again. I am not aware of any side effects of cutting this wire (if there are any).

Another company (coastaltech) who has yet to tell me if they are going to make a "lockpick" for the 4runners. Although they have some that might work, upon emailing them recently they sent the same generic response...we are always developing new blah blah blah. If I hadn't saved the email I sent the a year ago, I wouldn't have been so annoyed at the generic response. But I imagine if you were able to find a lock pick, it would be great. They turn off the stupid "I agree" screen. How many times do you have to agree...I mean really
