New vs Used

Hi
I need help deciding
used 2015 140kms for $32k grey
2018 45km for 42 blk
or new 2021 for 48k super white
appreciate help

If you keep asking the same question, without proper context, and litter different poster's threads...no one is going to help you. Get your post count up to 15 and then post your own thread. Please include some details (e.g. why need help choosing? Intended use of the 4runner? Likes/ dislikes about each?) so we know how to help.

The better question is why breathe life into a thread that’s been happily dead for 7 years to ask your question??? But to answer your question, If I was doing it all over again I’d buy new !!

Sorry my mistake. Couldn't work out why I couldn't start a thread or just post a question so figured might catch the right person if post on a few threads.
Appreciate any advice on buying new vs used
Not a lot of options on used at moment but found a nice 2015 with 140km no accidents 32k or new 48 k. Looking at sr5 models
Thanks

What I do is create a spreadsheet of vehicles and plot miles vs price for a given age and trim. It takes time to build a large enough data set to have a reliable curve. But after a few months, I had several hundred in mine.

Such a curve gives you the depreciation slope, but also where one vehicle sits relative to the least squares line. At a glance.

This is the Limiteds without 3rd row set.

This was compiled from nationwide data, both dealer and private party, from about July through Sept, 2020. I screened for only decent ones, no salvage, no accident history, no obvious problems. Some are CPO.

These are asking prices and do not take into account sales tax, dealer fees, etc.

But given the regression line, easy to see a 2015 with 60k miles for $36k is too much. Mentally adjust for what CPO is worth to you, etc.

I ended up getting a CPO 2015 with 56k for $31.5k. Below the trend line, but not the screamingest deal.

Add: to answer your Q on used vs new using such data, extend the trend line to zero miles, and shift it up by the very rough $1k per year that appears. Or figure the depreciation per year per 15k miles. Then decide if the new premium is worth it to you.
