New VVT-i in V8's

Do you think this will be something that can be upgraded on the '03 V8's? I am assuming the variable valve timing is controlled by the computer some how. I want the added power, gotta see if this could be added, that would be cool. Let me know what you guys think

I would kinda doubt it. In addition the the computer control, there has to be some mechanical changes to the valve train in order for it to be variable. Probably be cheaper to trade in for a new one.

Yup, it's probably cheaper to upgrade to the '05 model, then to make those internal changes.

Good point...a SC would end up getting you more power than the '05 engine...and is a cheaper upgrade.

There is absolutely no way to buy the parts that go along with VVT-i to update your '03 motor unless you want to strip it all the way down to the short block (you'll even have to replace the heads and the pistons due to a revised compression ratio), and then put everything back together with the new parts and with a 'from scratch' VVT-i system, you better darned near know how to rebuild a VVT-i motor in your sleep. And even after all that effort and many thousands of dollars spent, it's still no guarenteed to work or remain reliable.

You would be better served just swapping the motor out entirely with a wrecked '05 once they've been out long enough to start showing up in wreckage yards, or better yet, just installing a TRD supercharger on your '03, instead.
