New wheel opinions

I plan to get some OEM toyota rims and have them powdercoated black and put them on my runner. the reason i am sticking with the toyota rims is because Im not into the aftermarket rims too much. I know this is totally subjective but I want to hear comments/opinions. I think i have pretty much decided what i am gonna do, but i am not gonna say which way i am leaning yet. :

So its between these 3.
1. The tundra/sequoia 5 spoke

2. The GX470 5 Spoke

3. The standard Sport Edition 6 spoke.

Definitely #1! Those are the wheels I have on my runner right now. They also come in a darker gray color, called graphite gray. I'd love to see how they look in black though.

And that's a really cool idea...those rims in black with some nice upsized BFG's will look MEAN!

Another vote for #1. As Rodney Dangerfield put it "always look out for #1, but don't step in #2."

Definitely put on the biggest BFG ATs that fit.

I agree on #1.
I would still look at the many JDM wheels from manufaturers like Rays Engineering for something nicer looking, STRONGER and LIGHTER in a forged 2piece wheel.
Those wheels all look cast and they are probably expensive if you intend on buying from toyota, there are much better deals out there.
OTOH, if you are planning on finding a set of rims on ebay for less and want the reassurance of knowing that what you buy fits, well then OEM wheels make more sense.

I do plan on finding a used set, or a set that was taken off with less than 200 miles, so they are basically new. They can be found for a great price, way cheaper then a set of aftermarket ones. I still like the oem rim look, or i could say i dont like aftermarket rims too much. To be honest i am not really a "put new rims on my car" king of guy. There are definitely some aftermarket ones that look cool, but most are way too blingy for my tastes. So stockers it is.

So as i expected, everyone agrees with my top pick, #1. Thats why it was #1.

I did some research on rim size and offset for my s2000 and ended up getting a great price on slighly used 2 piece forged wheels with high end rubber off the internet. I paid $1400 for a tire and rim package that cost $3000. So, just a suggestion as long as you are looking. If you email Jim@tirerack he can help you with rim size and offset for the t4r. There are some very tasteful rims out there after you get past the bling bling factor!

as opposed to powder-coating them, can you get them in a chrome-black ala the pearl black emblems offered on the 3G 4runners? i think that would look dope too

I would say #1 as well. They look good on the Turndra and Sequoia, so they will definitely look AMAZING on the 4Runner.

Yeah, that helps...kinda. Those darker ones would look pretty sweet as they are on the galactic gray. If i end up finding a set of those i might do that w/o PC'ing them black. Maybe you can photochop those darker ones onto this picture?
