New Wheels for BMW X5

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is in the right category.

My dad decided he wants to get new rims and tires for their 2005 V6 3.0i BMW X5 Standard Package. He wants a little bit more rugged look, with more capable tires. On there right now are 17" Rims, not 100% about the tires tho.

We were looking at these rims O.Z. Opera EVO Bright Silver Paint

I really don't know much about tires, but I know he wants to fill up the wheel wells a little bit more, and have a more off-roadish look to it.

Tires like the Terra Grappler or Revo? I don't think those would really look right on the X5.

Maybe the Michelin LTX 2.

Ya, I was looking at the Revo's.... but I don't know the specs on tires... at all.

The tire size should be on the outside of the tire.

An example, 265/70/17.

265 is the width in mm. 70 is the aspect ratio. 17 is the rim size.

I think most vehicles could fit at least one tire size larger than stock.

So say I have a 265/70/17 Tire.... what would be one size larger? 275/70/17?

That size would be both wider and taller. I'm not sure about the width that the X5 could take.

I was thinking a 265/75/17. The only problem is that nobody makes that size.

If you want to run a wider tire, ex. 275 or 285, you can buy wheels that will allow you to do this. You need to look at their backspacing.
