New Wheels....thoughts?

So, this is my ride with Boss 22's and a friend is letting me test them out before I buy them. I'm practically stealing these because he only wants $500. Anyway I just wanted to see what everyone thought. My ride is not 4x4 so big tires and a lift...is not an option.

Personally, you couldn't pay me $500.00 to put those on my ride but that's just my 2cents.

Everybody has their own taste so if you like them I would say go for it!

I'd have to agree 100%. With that said, I'm planning a 3" lift and mud terrains for my rig this summer. So we probably have very different tastes. Do your research on what you're interested in and pull the trigger on what you like. It really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.
 
off the beaten path, not my style...but it doesn't look bad...

I'd say get some wheel spacers on there to get a little wider stance and a nice set of Sport or Limited flares would really make your truck classy as hell


oh! and a small 1/2-1" coil spacer in the rear to level her back out!

not for me.... but if you like it, who cares what anyone else thinks? probably not gonna get alot of love for those on here
 
I'd hate to guess what your stopping distance is now

Without bigger brakes that thing is going to be unsafe at any speed.

Kid runs out in front of you on the street-it is double the distance now to stop.You see the kid at 30 feet you will run him over and travel another 30 feet to come to a stop...there is real science involved in unsprung weight like that.

If you can get them for $500 then turn around and sell them for $1K and fix that back end sag and have money left over for more truck love.

That's my .02

I have seen you write about stopping distance being worse with big rims, what about people who have LIFTS or some bigger mudding tires?

Are you gonna say those trucks wont be messed up? Thats pretty stupid if you don't think so.

Also, not EVERYONE has a 4x4. I personally would think it is stupid to put mud tires, some different 16 inch rims and a lift on a 2wd. Sounds pretty POINTLESS

I believe he's probably assuming that most the folks on the forum who upgrade to larger wheel/tire sizes and lift kits are also upgrading their braking systems.

my 2 cents is that that wheel/tire combo doesnt really work. I'd keep my eye out for something else. there are nicer wheel/tire combo's out there than that one...it doesnt really match, but i'm not into large wheels w/ low profile tires. Theres a couple folks running around on the board with some decent looking combo's.
 
Not a fan of low profiles on an suv ever, sorry. And the 2wd isn't that big of a deal I took my 2wd pathfinder plenty of places hunting.
 
I have a 2wd and a 4 cylinder, so I am equipped even less than you, but I still have 32" tires and I just got my 99 tall springs (about 2" lift for me) today.

Your 2wd V6 can only do better than mine in that situation, I think the flashy rims belong on Escalades and DUB (yuck). Then again, it's your choice.

If you do end up doing it, make sure you upgrade your brakes to the Tundra 231mm. Stopping that thing will be an adventure in itself!

ORLY? I won't get into that but I also don't mud my truck either.

There is some pretty bad ass 2wd offroad machines out there these days. I can damn near go everywhere my 4wd buddies go.

But then agian if I'm buying a truck/suv I want it to feel like one and not some mall cruiser.


I don't like that paticular style of rim on the Runner. Hell its your truck do what you want with it!!! If you like it thats all that matters

I actually like the way these wheels look on your 4runner. I think you should go for it. Everybody has their own opinion; it seems like some people on here are set in their own ways and can't handle the thought that some 4runner owners have a different idea of what they want out of their car. I was actually thinking of putting rims similar to those on my 4runner...
 
I for one, am totally set in my ways and definitely can't handle the thought of someone having a different idea than me. I'm not quite sure what I'd do if someone did. ;)
Obviously I'm kidding, but since the OP asked, those are fugly as hell.
