New - With a few questions for you

Hi all,

I have been having a problem with my 92 4Runner. Can any of you help.

For the last few months now when I first take off after the 4Runner has set for any length of time it will go about a half mile and start to die/ loose power. It never totaly dies. After another quarter mile or so it straitens up and runs fine. I have changed the inline fuel filter.

I thought maybe the fuel pump but I have had fuel pumps go out before on other vehicals but it seams when they go out they just quit.

It is a 4WD with a V6 3.0 EFI

I was thinking of installing a inline fuel presure guage so I could tell if it is loosing fuel presure when it starts to loose power. Do any of you know what fuel presure this pump should have?

Could it be the computer going bad? Do any of you know what my problem is?

The other problem I am having with this vehical is the trans does not want to shift into high when it is cold. It will stay in second gear fore the first mile or so and it seams like after it does shift into drive I no longer have any problem with it loosing power after that.

Any thoughts, could these two things be symptoms of the same problem?
