I don't mind buying a hand held. I kept hoping I would find a HAM that can just connect into the antenna I already use for my CB, which is nicely wired to my center console. That way I could swap between CB or HAM according to what's needed, and not have to drill and cut the dash.

This is what lives in my center console currently, and would love to get a HAM that's set up the same way if possible.

Don't think they have an antenna that will work with both cb and ham since they both use different types of frequencies. I was originally planning on running both with two antennas, but in the end ditched the CB and went with a hard wired ham setup since everyone seems to have handhelds these days.

Mike, Madison, Brian and an unknown (Brian's buddy) made a trip out to Chilitown this past weekend. What they discovered was a plethora of AR shells lying around all over camp. OC Overland was the last group out there prior to [MENTION=157478]Bergster36[/MENTION] making a quick run for trash pick up (and he did note that there were shells everywhere) They picked up as many as they could, but they said there were still a ton scattered all over camp. If you guys could organize some sort of shell pick up to keep the area clean, put the kids to work, whatever. That would be great.

That being said. This really pisses me off. Until March and us using Chilitown as a campsite, it was virtually untouched. There were no tire tracks in the entire area until Miah and I drove into it for the first time. That tells me that whoever is using this area as a shooting range and not picking up their shells is very like from T4R or TW because it was a highly unused and no traffic area. Pick up your ****ing shells people.

If your letting go of that many rounds wouldn’t it make sense to lay down a dam tarp:doh:

I plan on spending a considerable amount of time Sunday before departure cleaning up

Apparently they're scattered across the entire campsite. That was just in the surrounding area that they camped on.
 
Old lady’s asking about bathroom situation and I explain that it’s in a remote area aka primitive camping. Apparently the girls aren’t into poppin’ a squat, especially while it’s cold at night lol. Any chance there’s restrooms driving distance from camp? Vaulted toilets? Never been to JT, let alone Chilitown
so unfamiliar with the area.

This is very remote. Nearest services town would be 29 palms probably 45-1 hr away from the camp spot. Within the park (chilitown is on BLM land) there are established campground ms with toilets but probably 1 hr off-roading to get to them. Buy one of those portable toilet things for them :bigok:
 
But with the remote-ness of a spot/area like this really is worth the hassle of no toilets and whatnot. Truely and awesome spot imo

It's about 20-25mins to the 62 from camp and another 20 to the nearest gas station.
