Let’s Start The New Year Right!!!!!

Location: Joshua Tree & Old Dale Mining District
When: December 30th - January 1st

Route:

DAY 1
Meet up location -Loves Truck Stop (33.7176368,-116.1701420)

, leaving at 10:00am
From Loves head into Thermal Canyon>Pinkham Canyon>Pinto Basin Road>Old Dale>Chilitown
Once at camp do some exploring in the immediate area

DAY 2
From Chilitown head over to Brooklyn Mine road> Rose of Peru Mine> Ok Mine Road>Ok Mine> Ivanhoe Mine Road>Ivanhoe Mine>Carlisle Mine>Doberman mt road>Supply Mine>Dunes>back to camp via gold crown road
Mileage————35 miles +\-

DAY 3
Slowly pack up camp and make our way back to Hwy 62 to head home
Mileage———— 12 miles +\- back to pavement

General route- Hwy 62 along the top border and the 10 fwy along the bottom

***If anyone is interested for meeting up on Day 2 or leaving early that’s more than ok
***The trails are family friendly, I’ll have my 4yr old son with me
***For those not familiar, Chilitown is pretty remote camping spot a buddy of mine found. You can look up previous trips here on T4R and TW
***Some of the roads in the route have no documention of being travelled anytime recently so we may encounter washed out sections that would require either turning around or working our way through it, it will depend on the group and actual condition of the road

Spare fluids for vehicle
Extra fuel
Recovery gear if you have it.
Recovery point front and rear (factory hook is fine)
Bring your winter gear because it can get cold in the desert( who knew lol)

I’m here I’m here...
Just wrapping up this remodel that I went way above and beyond with like as if it was mine...Stupid j/k
But also been giving my rig some much needed attention and pampering in between just going thru it and locating issues that need to be addressed

1.I need a whole new exhaust from the heads to the tail pipe and all of it in between I’m popping every exhaust code there is ..12

2. Which in return is probably burning my valves

3. Got my first leak..a seal..it’s either the powering steering pump or oil pump coming from the front passenger side engine cover. Nothing technical just a lot of tear down to get it done.

4.which then means while I’m there I might as well do my Timing chain or atleast replace my Timing chain guide and seals, main seal crankshaft seal etc etc

5 I’ve still gotta swing by Kartek and pick up my UCA uniballs so my front end stops shaking all overplace then get it aligned finally

6. And I still need to swing by Oceanside and pick up all new rear links so I stop wandering all over the road like a drunk driver.

Hopefully that sums it up ...

But yeah ....I’m down for the New Years Run ...hahah

Be gentle with Chilitown, it's been seeing a lot of action lately. OC Overland just did an entire large trip there. And leave the shrine if it's still there. You'll know it when you see it. hahaha. Wish I could go but I probably won't be cleared for arm usage until mid January, which makes it real difficult to load/unload the 4runner and set up camp one armed.

Yes I figured that it’s been frequented in the past 8 month by all sorts of people. If there’s a mess I plan to clean up the area a bit if need be. Way too nice of a spot to trash it

There were some beer cans left behind. Bergster ran out the other day and cleaned some stuff up. Turned my shoes that I left there in August into a shrine on a post. Haha.

I have some issues I still need to address with the runner before it sees dirt again so I have no problem sitting out for now. Appreciate it brotha. Besides, I think the arm was life telling me I needed to take a break. I'll be back in action before you know it.
