Newb Checking In - Pinyon Ridge Trail?

Hey guys, looking to hit up Pinyon Ridge Trail via Angeles Crest Highway this weekend with the family but have no offroading experience. Did some searching and haven't found much info on here either. I've read that this trail is "easy" level but wanted to see if anyone that has been there has any tips or things to look out for.
