Newb from Washington

Hey everybody, new to the site. been on every board from yotatech to pirate but thought i'd jump on board here after inhereting my wifes 99runner(3.4 auto). currently under construction getting axle swapped. my original plan was to go with Ruffstuff's housings but ended up even swapping my spare dual-case setup for front and rear taco-width Rock Assault axle housings(not to mention i didn't have cash!). also have an 88toy that i've been wheeling for about 10 years now but it's getting tired so it'll be next in line for an overhaul once my runner is done. i'll post some pics as soon as i can. looking forward to sharing some tech with you guys!!!

Haha! You need to post your Tacoma's build thread and then create a 4Runner build thread ASAP. You need to catch all of your modifications before you get carried away!

I know! I was pretty deep into my build before I joined here so I'll probably do a "timeline" thread as soon as I transfer all of my pics to my computer. I'll get it going though. I'm at that home stretch in my build where you get so excited that you try to knock out as many of the little things as possible so you can get your rig on the road. Early on I was dragging my feet on it spending more time reading tech than actually working on it which would have been a good time to start posting! Leave it to me to do everything back asswards!!!

I want some action shots once that thing finds unpaved road :)

No problem! I'm sure there will be plenty of wheelin pics posted. There's some threads on here that I avoid cuz I get jealous everytime I see action shots of some of these guys rigs and it makes me wanna rush to get mine done. That's when I end up forgetting to do something and start having problems with the rig!

Yupp. And I can already tell your addicted to T4R.org as well. You just got a membership and your already ~60 posts in. I also read that your not new to forums, so it isn't unusual. And I also don't think I ever welcomed you, :welcome:

Yeah I like it here! I've been on many of the other boards for years. Owned and built a few trucks and lifted trucks and runners for others but this is MY first runner so it seemed like the place for me to be! Dont have to sift through every make and model to find runner tech. and its a great community where you don't get flamed for asking a ligit question about your rig or get thrashed because you don't build as extreme as other members.
 
Technically I'm already done with the sas. Just working on skidplates, bumpers, sliders, and winch. How's yours coming along?

Axle is underneath the truck...mocking up the 3-link, strut towers and steering on Monday...then it's measure, tack weld, measure again, 3-link calculator, measure again, flex left, flex right, measure again, measure again, 3-link calculator, measure again, then BURN IT IN!!!!!

Lol! I know exactly how you feel. Done a few link setups myself! That's the reason why I went leafs with this one. Had to have it done before archery season opens. I'll be building a 2nd gen with my 14yo son later on this year. Contemplating a link setup for his but still undecided. It'll be his first rig so I don't think he needs anything that extreme but we'll see. He's got the wheeling bug and knows all about the Longfields, chromo hubs, hydro steer, etc, so I can't fool him with an IFS build. He's already rebuilt a set of front and rear axles so there's definately another axle swap in my near future.

that's just plain awesome. simple is good, leafs are proven. The tunability of a link/coilover setup is what sold me...cant wait to drive it! Good luck with yours and your son's...get some pics up here!

Thanks! good luck with yours too! Cant wait to see yours finished.
and I'll be startng a thread on mine soon. It'll be more of a timeline than a build thread since I was almost done with it before I jumped on board here.
