Ok guys, here is my situation. I just bought an 06 SR5 2WD with 95K Miles on it. I love it!, it's a beautiful shadow mica color. Anyway everything is stock and the previous owner took very good care of the vehicle. When I test drove it, I noticed absolutely nothing wrong with it. Today I drove it with my father in law (who is a hefty 300lbs like myself) and when I went through a couple of speed bumps, I bottomed out a little and kissed the bump stops. Doing a little research here has informed me that the stock springs tend to be on the soft side. I'm thinking about changing out all four shocks (KYB GR-2's for $193.00) I'm not going to use the vehicle for off-roading of any sort. The only thing I would like is for the vehicle to handle 4 adults, a baby and a bunch of luggage without a rough or aggresive ride. Or maybe the ocassional run to home depot with some weight in the back without dragging my ass on the pavement. Please give me your opinion guys. Should I be looking into a certain type of spring for the front and back? What is the middle ground between OEM comfort and aftermarket load handling?
P.S. I looked at the front bump stops today and they are very close to the control arm. Maybe 1.5" off of it? Could this be due to sagging springs?
