NewB needing clearification on lift questions

I know I have posted a few times about this I just want some clarification because I am new and I'm trying to understand a few things. I don't like how my 4runner sits lower in the front and want it to look more level and have the same amount of space between the tire and the body as the back side does. Many of you have suggested adding the FJ coils, Blistien 5100s and a 1/2" spacer. I understand that this will riase the front a little to give it the more level look, however what else is the upside of doing this? Why the Blistiens, what do they do that the stock shocks don't and what does a spacer do? Where does the spacer go? I think I understand why to swap the coils, because they are beefier. How does all this effect the ride? Why wouldn't I just buy a leveling kit? (So sorry for all the questions, thanks everyone for helping)

well 1st off....nice on the BOOMER SOONER. Born and raised watching the OU games and haning out at the field during practices. What a game that was Saturday huh?

2ndly.....I have just installed FJ shocks and springs along with a 1/2" spacer on the front. Got me 2.25" of lift PLUS a firmer ride. Those speed bumps that make your suspension bottom out no longer apply to me. It sits better, rides better and just feels better. It's a slam dunk on the instal and with the right tools, should take no more than a few hours. Alot of people use the 5100's and other things but if you want to do a budget lift then the FJ set up is the way to go.

But if you're not going to be doing a ton of offroading and dont' care about a slightly stiffer ride...you could just use leveling a kit...like cornfed spacers. Probably your cheapest route. At least that's from my understanding...

Agree^^^ if your not off roading the spacer is the least expensive and gives a good look. I never off road so I went with spacer and everyone brags about how good my 4runner looks.

I will be towing my Jeep to the trails to do some wheeling, however the ranch roads to get to the main trails can be washed out after it rains so I was looking for a little more clearance as well. Once I am out at the trails with my Jeep I am sure I am going to test out the 4runner too. However, I wont be taking the 4runner off road anymore than that.

My 4runner mostly stays on road with some very occasional off-road use, but mostly on forrest service roads, so nothing crazy. I went with the Daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer kit - it installs in a snap and the stance is great. I like the stock ride, and it doesn't change the ride quality at all.

I added some 265/70/17 tires to complete the stance.

See the Lift & Tire thread, there's a ton of people running that setup.

If I were offroading, I would likely replace with FJ springs or a Toytec kit, but since it's 98% a highway queen, spacers are just fine for my use and give the truck a great stance.
