Newb owner....'99 SR5

[TR4Runner]

Picking up a '99 SR5 this evening after work. Been looking for an SUV for a little while and always loved the look/ruggedness of the 4Runner. I'm switching from a '95 BMW (318) that I have had for 7yrs/60k miles (145k now) and numerous performance upgrades. With a baby girl, new house, love of camping, dirt and mud, it was time to move on from the BMW. The wife still has one so that fix is still there. I also got sick of borrowing my Bro's Land Rover for camping trips and missed getting dirty w/ my other Bro's Jeep. I've been lurking around here for the past 2-3 weeks gathering up info. I'm a regular on the BMW board at Roadfly and look forward to learning my way around the 4Runner here. I'll get some pics up soon.
Anyways...it has 83k on it and drove/tracked really nice and I really liked the price...seemed good to me for $8700.
I hope to immerse myself in the culture here.

A 99 SR5 with only 83k for $8700 is a steal if you ask me. It's still just getting worn in .

Were you able to get the maintenance records for the vehicle?

Didn't you guys get hit pretty hard with snow storms this past winter? Bet you're wishing you had the 4Runner then. Good luck with the new rig. I had a '90 325is years ago and loved that car. But you will love the 4Runner.

You will definantly love the 99. I think the 99 is the tallest of all the years. I look forward to seeing picks of your new truck.

One more day....

Got a call from the dealer that I couldn't pick it up yesterday. They had to replace a weeping PS hose and couldn't get it ready in time. Bummer. But atleast they actually found something on the pre-delivery inspection. I juat hate having to wait another day.
I did not get the maintainence records on the vehicle, but I did give it a pretty thorough look over. Clean. Inside and out. No leaks. Everything functions properly. I was really impressed on how clean and unmolested the underside of thing was. Not much wear and tear on anything. Boots, bushings, links, exhaust all looked really good. I also have the window sticker, owner's manual, keys, fobs.
I think a few things worked in my favor in getting what I think is a good price. Nissan dealership, end of the month, March (in Bflo, NY), and it was ther for a month or so.
We have had an odd winter here. Not too bad. We did get nailed a couple of weeks ago, but like the weather all winter long, it was cold for 3 days then everything melted. Then it was cold and snowed again...then melted....
I must say driving my BMW in the snow was easy. It has been the best handling 'car' I have driven in snow. Four dedicated snow tires, 40lb tube of sand in the trunk, and LSD made it unstoppable. Even though it had a super stiff race suspension and sat really low....it worked like a plow sometimes.
First mod on the list for me is to get a safari rack...although the 4Runner didn't come with the factory rack, only the two strips.
