Just recently purchased my FIRST Toyota! It's a 2003 v6 sr5 4runner. Having a little trouble finding an answer to my question with all of the suspension options available out there. The previous owner informed me that he had done the FJ front coil/ Bilstein shock upgrade to the front end as well as oversized brake upgrade. He wanted to level out the vehicle.
I do some light towing (bass boat/ aluminum utility trailer w/quads) & I want to eliminate some of the rear end sag while towing. I have purchased the firestone ride rite coil spring air bags to help with that. I was told by the previous owner that the front end (factory) coil springs & shocks he gave me with the vehicle could be used on the back in combination with the firestone bags to help with towing. He stated the front coils were a little stiffer to support the weight of the motor & would work great on the back with the firestone bags. Is this true? Would I gain anything by installing the factory shocks/coils from the front in the rear or should I just install my coil bags & go?
