Newb tailgate question.

Will the tailgate and rear bumper of a '90 fit an '87?

The bumper might, I never tried that, but rear gates are different, 87 + 90 are different generations.

I see where the tailgate hangs lower on the later model and the bumper dips down to accommodate that, if it would work at all, it would take both to do it. I can't seem to find and gen1 tailgates around here.

1984 through 1989, 1st gen, will interchange

1990 through 1995 are 2nd gen, totally different body style.

The bumpers might have the same mounts, but the second gen tailgate will not bolt up to the first gen. You'd need serious body work to make them match.

Keep looking, you'll find one. Try posting up on Yotatech, there's a whole bunch of 1st gen guys in the PNW on there, I bet one of them knows where to find a replacement gate.
