Newb with a REALLY dumb ?

Ok I will first off say I feel really stupid for asking this, but its giving me all kinds of hell. I bought some Ion Gold foglights to replace the factory ones. I spent about a half hour trying to screw them in and cannot seem to do it! I changed the oil this past weekend and even THAT was a snap. Everytime I try to screw them in the socket it won't turn. All 3 notches on the (9006) bulb fit, but it wont screw in there. I also lack the leverage to use both hands upright to attempt this. Is there ANY tips or tricks you guys can tell me to help ease this for me. It has become the bane of my existence. LOL Thanks in Advace!

Sounds like the base material is a bit thicker than it should be. Have you matched the new bulbs to the old ones? Sometimes there could be a slight variance in the manufacturing that causes the bulb not to turn when fitted into the socket.

If you have a 2003-05, see if the bulb goes in without issue in the lowbeams.

Thanks for the response. I have a 2008, and I tried fitting the stock ones back in and still the same thing. It just wont turn. Im thinking this weekend Im going to have to resort in pulling the inner splashguard/fender off a ways. I dont know. Seems way to much of a hassle to change a simple bulb. I just cant get any leverage with it being stuck.
 
I'm going to shoot for the obvious here. Have you tried turning them counter-clockwise as well as clockwise?

Do you notice if each of the tabs are the same size? Is there a rubber gasket/seal around the base of the bulb? This might be putting counter pressure and you may have to use a little more elbow grease.
 
take a q-tip, dip in vaseline, apply a thin light coating to tabs & ring. that should make turning easier. just dont get any on bulb of course. works on household bulb too.
 
Sorry to be Capt. Obvious here, but are you certain that they are "clocked" correctly to go into the appropriate slots? Secondly (as mentioned earlier in the thread) have you attempted to turn it the opposite direction you have tried? I have pulled mine, but cannot remember the direction of orientation of clock-wise.

Yes, I have tried both ways, had them lined up perfect. Even tried and couldnt get the factory ones back in. I had my wheels turned all the way out, crouched up in between the wheel and the front bumper in that wheel well (yes I was able to somehow manage that position) looking through the little vent with a flashlight so I know it was lined up. I will tomorrow try the tip by Chaz with the vasoline and if that doesnt work then I might as well pull the fender liner out. Thanks for all of the replies for my stupid simple issue. lol
