Hi all, I am in the market for a 4Runner. I've been looking at 1997 - 2000 models. Looks like the previous ones had problems and they had a model change from '96. My budget is around $5K. I'd appreciate your help on what things I should look for, especially things that breakdown with age and miles.
Came across a 200 Limited with 191K miles, good condition for $6300. It's two hours from me. Edmunds says it is a reasonable price. What should I check on the phone before the drive?
Is timing chain an issue at this mileage? Engine? Tranny?
If you can suggest specific years for my budget, that would be a great help.
I never owned a truck and have Honda Accord 2000 which I am giving to my son.
