Newbie has questions

I bought my son's 2003 Toyota Sport V-8 4WD with every option in flawless condition and was meticulously maintained. Just had four new brakes installed, new Michelon tires, and drive belt. About 75,000 miles on odometer.Questions: when should the timing belt and water pump be changed...or should I want until "something" happens? I don't intend to drive much more than 5000 miles a year (November to April): is one annual oil change adequate under these conditions? Any guess on "life expectancy" of the engine and powertrain? My impression is that this is an incredible vehicle...such a smooth, powerful engine and transmission as well as quality built!

Welcome and congrats. The service interval is 90k. At some point (around 10years) I'd get concerned about the age. Toyota would have you change it earlier than that based on age. I think it's a bit conservative on their part. I would get an anti-freeze change in (based on age) soon.

Keep all the fluids fresh and you'll have no problem going over 200k.

I got my T-Belt and water pump changed at 94K mi at Toyota. They said the belt still looks good, and even told me they have serviced T-belts in a more, more milleage vehicle.

But for peace of mind, the service manager said don't go more than 100K as soon as you have the budget. A 2003 model is 8 yrs old, some may not reach 100k miles in 10 yrs. IMO its a more of a time factor than mileage.
