Newbie help buying and towing

First off this forum is awesome. I have been a huge fan of 3rd gens for a while and I am now planning on buying one. I have a concern though about my boat and need advise on what to buy.

- I have a 22' Tiara Cuddy Cabin boat. Boat weighs 3650lbs by itself. Add in trailer and gear and I will be pushing the 5k limit for sure. Can I pull this boat with a 3rd gen? I will never pull it more than 60 miles and normally I will pull it about 5 miles or even less. my boat is currently parked across the street from the launch so most of the time I will use the T4R to tow across the street and put it in the water and then again to take it back. If I pull it home it is 5 miles and a few hills but nothing major. One steep but short hill up to my subdivision. Please tell me this will work. I dont want to buy big v8 suv.

- I am looking on craigslist everyday for deals. I want to spend between 5-8k. Is there something special I should be looking for? What mileage is still ok for a daily driver?

Once you do you out will see that this one has suffered a strawberry milkshake transmission failure and the supercharger is due for a rebuild.

Long story short, stay away from this one.

Just wanted to say welcome to our big family. North America to Japan and all places in between. I think that you will be ok with your boat. You are not pulling it up the Rocky's on 70 to the Eisenhower Tunnel. IMO I think you will be fine being this close and not hauling it all over the place. I would just say do the Tundra Break Upgrade and have electric brakes on the trailer and you will be solid, granted you will not be pulling this boat fast but you will get there but with that upgrade and trailer breaks you will stop in a hurry with 5,000 lbs on the 4runner. Also, check out the classified section. Things happen in life and our guys have to sell there trucks at times. As we speak I know PitbullRescuer has a very nice 4Runner that is set up and ready to go. Look it up in the classified section.

Thanks for the help. I am thinking the same thing with my boat. As long as I don't tow much I should be fine. Think I found a pretty sweet deal. Let me know your thoughts on this.

thats a good price, just check it thoroughly for worrysome rust.

On the replacing rad note, i had to replace a rad on mine as it sprouted a small hairline crack where the tranny send line connects.. never had pinkmilshake, so a new rad doesn't necessarily mean run away, but he did mention the tranny service so i see what you are getting at

Kind of what I was thinking too. A new radiator doesn't automatically mean "pink milkshake". When I owned my '97, my radiator became partially clogged and had to be replaced.

Was the transmission replaced after it happened? Or did they just flush it and call it good?

According to him the transmission was completely replaced. He is going to send me some info. That happened about 30k ago. He has a work truck so he hadnt used the 4runner in a while and it sat. His mom used it and that is when the strawberry milkshake happened. he is now asking $6200 and is flexible on price..... Should I run for the hills
