Russian Organized Crime

Scroll down to auto theft, I have run into 3 different people selling salvaged titles and they all had russian accents, and I find it funny. It doesn't nessisarily have to be stolen, people will buy several wrecked cars and combine all the parts to make a profit.imp:

funny i sold a bunch of my broken 4runner parts to a russian guy a week ago...lol

So the truck turned out to have a salvage title which i knew but was hoping it said rebuilt on it but it didn't so there is no way for me to register it in NJ. however it is reg'd and insured in NC and im sure it cane be done again here. Anyway he was asking 2500.00 on the truck and i was going in with a offer of 1500.00 before i even saw it. Turns out with the title it wasnt even worth me looking at anymore but from my once over and not drivig it it would make a great trail rig but i want someting nicer for DD/vacation trips.

So if anyone knows of a 3rd gen in the NC area LMK

Due to this one being a bit too far for me to get easily, I will let you in on it. The guy is in Sanford, NC has a 98' SR5 95K miles. You can find it on the fayetville craigslist about a week ago. IMO it is very nice, without driving it of course. It is listed at $7000 but he will come down. I didn't get far enough to check the history but have a feeling it's fine.

Please let me know how it turns out if you test drive or buy it, I would love to know what I missed.

i just found another one that im going to look at tonight and its a much better deal as long as no one beats me there since its kind of a drive but when the right one pops up you have to go for it.

After looking around a bit, I decided to go with this one. The deal is done and I will get it Tuesday if all is well with it. It seems like in my area, Southeast Ga, they are in higher demand which makes no sence to me. So off an a 6 hour trip I go.

I just hope the tranny is not slipping or something stupid like that when I go to get it, I am hoping to be driving home in a 4runner.

alright i think i found my truck

98 limited 4x4 with rear diff lock
leather
230k new timing chain at 190k
new tires
2 owner truck
maintence records
everything works
has the 3 disc changer in dash (not that it will stay)
bumpers clean
no rust

thats the good now the bad

a lil shimmy at about 50 ( tie rods ball joints )
the roof is completely faded
the drivers leather bottom is completely shot
and a small dent in the tailgate
and minor things a vent or two need to be replaced the gas door doesnt lock

supposed to pick it up saturday what would you say its worth obvisously i already negoitated but i can still back out
