Newbie here in Memphis, TN

Well, I have had my 06SR5 for about 36 hours now and absolutely love it. I had a modded 03 Mustang GT that I traded in for the 4Runner. I am a huge automobile enthusiast and decided it was time for my first SUV. I got a great deal on mine (one of my best friends is the Finance Manager at the closest Toyota dealership. Anyway, I am looking forward to owning this vehicle and learning more about its capabilities.

Congratulations on your new truck, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I've been enjoying mine since I got it 3 weeks ago.

Just don't run over to West Memphis too often and ruin your alignment, tires, suspension, etc..... think they'll ever fix that stretch of road?

Probably not, i think they have been working on that since i was 5. Memphis' roads aren't the best either, especially on the outskirts of town, near Mississippi for example. I drive in and out of Miss. every day going to work, and it is a lot better in the 4Runner.
 
Congrats on the new truck! Now just keep your distance from all the crazy drivers here in Memphis and have fun keeping a black truck clean in the spring time with all the pollen.
 
Welcome! You've just purchased the most reliable/durable SUV on the planet. We did 75K miles on our '98 Limited and have 54 K on our current '03, towing a 4.000# trailer with both.

Toyota is as good as it gets (Lexus notwithstanding!).

Where are you in Memphis? I live in an apartment complex on Southwind, but just bought a place in Audubon Square, right there on Park and Colonial.

I live in Lakeland. I've lived in Memphis since '97 and been here in Lakeland since '03. I work out east, so my drive is really easy. I can avoid I-40 and 240, which is nice to do. Seems like you picked a good time to move out of the Southwind area with some of the crime that has been nearby along Winchester Rd.

Yeah, the apartment complex is real safe though. The only reason I moved there was to be closer to work, but where I am moving is going to be the same distance.
 
I had no idea that there were so many Memphis people on here! I used to stay down on Walnut Grove and Germantown, but got broken into the first week I moved there. The wife was in the apartment at the time, but luckily scared the guy off as soon as he came in the door. We had enough with that and moved out and away from King Willie. Now I've got a long drive, but not too bad in the ol' 4Runner.

'03 w/ 110K (mostly from driving out of state)

Thats funny. There are a bunch of cool places on Beale Street, they just opened up a Coyote Ugly last month. If you ever get a chance, you need to come in town during the month of May for Musicfest and Barbequefest. Check this site out - www.memphisinmay.org .
