newbie just purchase a 95 V6 SR5

I just purchased a 1995 Green SR5 4Runner
and So far I Love IT. I Had been looking for several
months and I finally found a low mileage 4runner
and the owner had all service records.



So is there anything to look out for?
the HG recall was done and the Timming belt was replaced
at 65,000 miles and there are currently 78,000 miles on the
clock, so far everything works perfectly.

oh the power antenna is broke, so far that is the only issue

looks like you found a gem and having previous service records is always a plus! the HG was the only really major issue with the 3vze. but since that was done along with the timing belt, id say you're good to go. my hg was done at 21k, and with105k now, no problem with it(hope i didn't just jinx myself).......i've read valve cover leaks are common on the 3ve too, and mine is seeping a bit anyway, post some pics.

The power antenna is a easy fix if it is just a broken cable.

If you need help let me know I have replaced mine on my 93.

OK first problem

A/C BELT IS Squealing
how hard it that to replace

I havent looked yet , but I dont think the compressor
pulley is locked up, I think it is the belt, but it is not cooling
and sounds horrible

Congrats on your purchase. If your rear is sagging, truck that is , replace those rear springs. Love that color too.

my rear is saggin but that is my age not the 4runner

it is just the picture , it actually sits level
unlike some 4runners that appear to have the bumper draggin

good find. everything above holds about true for my 93. ive gone through 2 power antenna motors, so no surprise there. just stay on top of the little things. i've had lots of small plastic parts (cover for wiper bolt, dimmer knob, carpet edging, mudflap bolt.. etc) go missing or crack. be sure to replace stuff like that while the parts are still available.

Good find indeed - '95 with only ~70k miles! My '94 is at 170K and I'm just now getting around to the rear springs, shocks, & some rotors - oh and the CV boots are wasted --- other than that I've had ZERO probs with my old baby .. and it's been through some hard core road trips.

3vze (your v6) has only a few issues...

HG, leaking valve covers, leaking main seal and thats about it. Oh and the PCV valve is a beyoch to get to, so do the PCV mod if you ever yank the upper plenum off.

Some people claim that the 3vze likes to burn the #6 exhaust valve, but that only comes from not keeping track of your valve lash which is 100% maintainance related.

the PS belt is a cinch to get off, just pull the fan shroud, fan, then loosen lower tightening pulley and loosen any belts forward of the PS belt. These motors are quite simple thankfully - well save the vacum lines and smog crap...

4Runner Bumpers Dragging

Curious to know what damage can be done with a dragging bumper on a 4Runner. I pass one everyday going to work which sags badly. It always looks loaded down but you can tell it is empty.
