Newbie question on Seafoam

I'm new here...go easy. Was looking for some help with my 2000 4Runner. I am not experienced with fixing cars, as you'll see.

I have a check engine light and took it to a mechanic who told me my catalytic converter had gone bad. I asked around and was told that Seafoam could help with the issue. I bought a can of the spray because it seems more idiot-proof, but it's over even my head.

The instructions say: "Locate the engine throttle body and remove air intake boot. Install the Sea Foam cleaning tube by inserting the short end of the hook guide into the throttle body, positioning the tube directly in front of the throttle plate."

Where are the throttle body and the intake boot? Is there a better place to use the spray? I've read about people putting it into the intake manifold, but I'm not sure if that was for spray or regular Seafoam.

Any help is much, much appreciated.

I have heard people say Seafoam helps with a bad cat but in my expirience once it's gone, it's gone. How many miles are on your Runner?

To answer your question: The intake hose is the black hose that runs from the air box (where the air filter is) to the engine, the piece it connects to is the throttle body which is connected to the intake manifold. The other version of Seafoam gets poured into a vacuum line and gets pulled into the intake manifold that way. A 10mm socket on the clamp at the throttle body will get the boot/hose off enough for you to spray the Seafoam. If you arent sure with the Seafoam DON'T do it! You can do some perminant damage if you load your intake with too much of that stuff.
