Newbie question re: lift

Still pretty new to T4R's and I have a question about lift. First, I don't do any serious off-roading with my truck. 90% of the time I am on paved roads and when I am off road it is in northern Michigan on two-tracks. Mud is the only real challange that I have to deal with and that is very rare.

I would like to lift my body 1"-2" primarily for cosmetics but also to eliminate occasional tire rub when turning sharply uphill. What's the best way to go? What kits should I consider? Also, I'll be taking it into a shop to have the work done.

Any down side to lifting the body a couple of inches? Any effect on performance?

Thanks

Are there different types of lifts based on different needs? (Body lift vs. suspension lift)/

Yes... This is a good place to get started. Lance did a great job with the FAQ's.

J.A. has a great site too.

Read up and define your mission... How much lift? What do you want do in terms of ride/drive/tire size etc. Once you do that it'll become more clear what the right answer is. Most do a lift 1st and then some will use a Roger Brown bodylift to get the last 1" (or is it 1.5" ) of lift.
