Hey all,
I picked up a 92 4 runner recently, never owned one before. And I really bought it because it was a good deal from a friend.
Anyways, I already love it, I have taken it camping already and thrown new BF Goodrich M/T on it, did the brakes and have found it no so bad to work on.
I do have a few concerns that I was wondering if someone could help me out with though.
The first thing is the engine has a rattling noise from the valve train, it sounds normal but every now and than you hear a ping or rattle from the top end when staying at any constant speed. I am unsure if a valve adjustment would repair this, would it, and should I worry?
Also, I am a tad bit confused on the coolant level in my 4 runner. I did a flush on it recently, and topped it up to normal level etc, than I drive home, get home check the level in both the rad and the overflow and both are good.
The truck than sits overnight and I check it, and the overflow is good, but the rad level has dropped right down.
I than run it for about 5 minutes check the level and coolant is right at the top of the rad.
Is there something I am missing? Where does the coolant go?
No milky oil in tranny or engine. No leaks, I pressure tested.
When it is very cold (0 degrees) it smokes white for about 2-3 minutes until warm up, is this normal?
Also is a true I should be putting ATF in the P/S resevoir.
Also I am looking for a reccomendation on a new muffler, something not too loud, but not stock
I know Im asking a lot, but I am just interested in taking care of my new baby.
