Newbie with 2007 tow PKG ?

Hi I just bought a 2007 SR5 V6 4WD and it has the factory hitch on it and I'm trying to find out if it has the tow pkg with coolers or if that was not avail. I got a print out of the options from the dealer and it says weight carrying hitch and ball mount code (TO) 430.00 option and the dealer said it was the only tow pkg avail. and that it has trans cooling tubes. This is my first Toyota and I have never heard of cooling tubes. Does any one know what comes with the pkg or if there was more than one that you could choose when ordering?

I am sure somebody with V6 will respond to you soon.
But here is my $.02: by cooling tubes I am sure dealer is referring to external trany cooler and as far as I know that only came with V8 where it was standard.
I do think any V6 models came with external trany cooler unless it was installed by the dealer as an aftermarket.
I believe it was the same for Weight Distribution hitch: it is standard with V8 with exception of first year production of 4-th generation .
One thing you can do is take a look under the hood and see if there is an external trany cooler in front of the radiator. And the same thing for WD hitch: just take a look underneath the truck and see.

The V6 4Runner is rated to tow 5k with only the internal, in-tank (cooling tube) type fluid cooler. Many choose to add an additional cooler even though it's theoretically not necessary. I am one of them... Click on the link in my signature for a trans cooler thread.

Thank you for the replys I have a 18' bowrider I/O that ways 3500-3800 and its 25 miles round trip to the lake on weekends do you think I need extra cooling or would I be ok just to do a trans service every 15-30k?

Hello from Duluth, going out fishing this Saturday? Unless you're seeing serious hills for a good portion of your drive I think you will be OK with it as is.

I pull an 18 Foot Lund with a 90 horse 4 Stroke with the 4Runner on occasion. Loaded up I'm sitting around 2200 pounds and have driven to Grand Rapids and back before with no issues. It doesn't do the job quite as well as my Super Duty but it gets the job done.
 
I thought fishing opener was never going to come! I'm heading up to the Brainerd area tomorrow night for 4 days on the water. Can't frickin' wait! I just tow a small 16 foot alumum boat with a 35 horse on it and I don't even know I'm towing anything. Next year a larger boat is on its way though.

8086...they usually say to stay within 15% of you towing max, so you should be just fine towing that boat around.
 
I thought for sure with the early warmth we had that this opener would be one for the books. With the recent weather I am not so sure anymore.

If nothing else it will be nice to get out on the lake again.

If you were 'religious' with the fluid changes and drive easy you'll be fine. If you stick with a 30-40k fluid change that would be enough.

I would put one on, enjoy the extra piece of mind and extend the fluid interval to 50-60k. It also make the rig more 'ready for anything' which is kinda why we have these vehicles. Driving the big U-Haul trailer to Sturgis with bikes, renting a small TT, whatever... Maybe you'll get into a little off-roading someday.


A final point is: A DIY install is $100-$125, a pro install may be $200. Servicing the T4R transmission is $125-$200 typically.

i agree, you should be fine, but if u have the stock sr5 suspension, what u may like, & can help in the handling dept. are airlift 1000 rear bags.
