Assuming you are using stock timing specifications, 95 octane is suitable.

Be aware that the 3.0 V6 is susceptible to blown headgaskets, IF they have not been replaced (at some point) by a previous owner with the slipper plate steel design gaskets. I realize you are in SA and acces to this style gasket may be difficult. Best thing to do is make sure the engine does not run 'hot'. That means, make sure the engine cooling system (radiator , thermostat, water pump, hoses) are kept in good working condition. Also maintain the exhaust system so that it does not produce any excess backpressure. Due to the engine head / exhaust crossover pipe design, the numbers 5 and 6 cylinders ( nearest the firewall ) run hotter. That is what causes the headgaskets to fail. EDIT -- the 'new' design gaskets can be obtained from Toyota dealerships ( make sure you ask if they are the slipper plate design, just to be sure ).

There is also a steering linkage rod recall currently underway in the USA for many 1st generation and 2nd generation 4Runners and pickup trucks. The linkage rod replacement is free thru Toyota and should include at minimum a toe-in alignment after installation. The original linkage rods have been known to fail under steering load -- generally in an off-road environment ( such as high steering loads against ruts, rocks and roots, etc.). It does not usually fail under normal , on-road driving. You might try contacting a local Toyota dealer with your Vehicle Identification Number to see if your 4Runner is under this recall, and if they are able to perform it for you.

Thanks againg for the info. Yesterday I took my new (old 90 4runner) to my home. I get very heavy traffic (Santiago, Chile) , but I nevermid that because I put the air aconditioner, the original radio (only one speaker works) , my favorite radio station, and in the backround the old V6 sound, (is not a V8, but sounds very good).
I really enjoy my trip to home, when I get down of the 4r, I was with a big smile!!! jejejeje.
I think this will be the best anti-stress treatment.!!

Well , I noticed that the rear of my 4r is lower than the front, I have read a lot of the links that you give me. Seems I need a stiffer rear coils.

This weekend I have my first offroad experience... My Slicks Tyres didnt help me in the mud, but I only get stuck one time.

I discover (I didnt notice in that moment) that the v6 gets 6000 RPM!!!! in L, 4L...

Im happier every day with the 4runner. Now I will Mod to offroad.

I think 33" tyres on 8" wheels
5.29 R&P
May be 2" lift in the rear...

I have attach a Photo of my 4runner.

Regards!
Paulo

Well thanks to the info in this forum I can use my Cruise Spedd now, and works perfect!!!

I put 265/75/r16 muds on my 7" alloy wheels.

This week I will install rear fj80 coils in the back to lift a little de back.

The only thing Im happier is the very bad gas millage (5 km/lt app 12mll/gal)

Here are until now:
