Newbie with a few questions for the experts...

Hey guys,

I think this site is great...I just bought my first 4runner. I have had many trucks and suv's in the past. My favorite before this was my lifted '98 explorer XLT, but this thing is just sweet!!! It's a '99 limited. I just have a few questions and concerns that I'm sure you guy's can help me with (as if you're not too tired of responding to newbies with loads of already asked questions). I really appreciate any help/advice you guys can give me.

Here goes...

1- Where is the best place to get an original owners manual?

2- When I shift out of 4-wd there is a pretty loud CLUNK...is that normal?

3- I just programmed my keyless entry, the arm/disarm and the panic buttons work fine but the rear window button does not...any ideas?

4- what is the largest tire I can get under this beast without a lift (a lift is in the cards for the future, but right now I need tries for this season)?

I'm sure I'll have more questions for later...but I don't want to start off on too bad of a note. I really appreciate any help from any of you.

1. dealer or ebay or froogle.

2.yeah but if you shift out with the wheels straight while coasting it's fairly silent.

3.not sure

4.i fit 265/75r16 with 1.5" clearing when i turn. But i've never heard it rub or seen any rub marks.

Has anyone ever tried mounting a 275/70-16 tire under a stock 4runner (that gives about an 11 in. width and a 31 in. height)???

That's too wide on the stock setup. My 265/75s are almost 32" tall but just a tad slimmer than 11".

About your remote and the rear window, are you holding down the button long enough? And also, does your rear window roll down from the switch on the dash?

Thanks again guy's, I wasnt holding the button long enough. It does work. Thanks for the tire size info. About tires...has anyone ever run the Kumo M/T's or the geolander at II's, and if so what did you think??

I had Geolandars on my '97 and they were great on and off road but they are soft and might wear a little faster than others but that softer compound is great on dry pavement but they do have a 40k warranty.
I chose Nittos for my '99 since they were priced nicely and they wear well and they handle the dry and wet just as good as the Yoks but wear a little better and they look good.
