New guy here, the handle is LuvDLions as in the Detroit Lions, my name is Justin and I just bought my 1st 4runner yesterday as a toy/vehicle for my newly licensed son (Ryan). Ryan is middle child, I have 2 daughters and a wife, so to all you single ladies, I am sorry. I work in the HVAC industry but don't know how to fix them, I just sell them, so if you want me to help, it may only get worse. I have wheeled all over the Big Bear area, Johnson Valley, Razor road, Afton Canyon, Giant Rock. Not an expert by any means, don't get me wrong, but I am not a total newb. Don't know if this is taboo, but I used to have XJ's, probably a half dozen all in all, maybe more, but decided to go with something with a frame. I am not into the heavy wheeling, I don't care for all that pucker factor. I prefer sight seeing and mild challenges with a little more speed. Gold Mountain is one of my favorites as well as Afton Canyon and I definately want to do the Mojave Trail soon!!!
My (our) new ride is a 1993 4wd SR5 with 210k on it. The seller said it had a new trans, tires (stock), battery and a remaned radiator. It is pretty clean body/interior for the age and for now. HeHe! IMO, it runs good (maybe a little less power than I awould have thought), the seller said it "runs rough", the only thing I noticed was it started to idle rough and tried to stall, gave it a little gas and kept her running. He was told it was a bad head gasket, but I am not sure it isn't a clogged/bad injector. Not sure about these but i am sure if I troll around here enough someone else has commented on the same issue. Like I said earlier, I am not looking to hard core wheel or run baja, can't afford either anyway. I am thinking more expedition type setup. Thinking 2" OME, 33's (?) if they aren't to big, maybe 31's. Again, I am sure I can get more info on that here too. Maybe a roof rack, hi-lift, spare tire carrier, water/gas cans, shovels, lights, in the future. You get the idea.
Not sure if I left anything out or added to much, but that's about it for now. I will try to post some pics of the rig later. Look forward to meeting some of you soon!
