Hey, the Powers that be, did my background and I passed, Wahoo!

Just trying to decide if I should be a Tacoma or 4runner guy? I just took a ride in the 4runner and well you all already know they are pretty sweet.

A 4Runner will give you a much better ride than a Taco, but the Taco has the cargo capacity.

Welcome Asilomar! I'm fairly new to this forum too.

I was in the same boat as you. I bought a 17 Taco SR5 Double Cab (my 1st truck) 11 months ago, and just last month traded it in for a 18 T4R SR5 Premium. I didn't make use of the truck's bed like I thought I would. The Taco interior was too cram. Especially the back row, my kids were complaining it was too small. The T4R interior is much roomier. Also the T4R has a 4.0L engine vs the Taco 3.5L. I actually felt more power driving the T4R. Either way the Taco is a great truck. Don't take my word for it, this was my experience. Go test drive them both! Good luck!

If you want it for cargo, go Tacoma.
If you want already built-in secure space for your gear and passengers, be able to stop anywhere you have to (i.e., to camp in bad weather), and just crawl into the back to sleep/camp/access gear instead of having to get out of the cabin, walk around the back to the camper/truck cap, etc. Go MoreFunner.
Also consider the length of vehicle - for tight places when off-roading; I think Tacoma is generally longer than the 4Runner.
This I'm not sure about:
Is the 4Runner, just as "flat-bellied" as the Tacoma? FB meaning nothing sticks out from below the chassis line - safer, better ground clearance and easier to install armor.

Thanks, great info! I have 2 friends that just bought new 4R's, I like all the positives of both, I think I'll try and talk the wife into both!

Yes, both
And LOL, yes, when I car-camp and weather's too sporty, I sleep in the truck; Else, outside on the ground.
