Here is my newest addition to my 05 4runner Sport V8....Motorola IHF1000 bluetooth car kit. Installed just fine and great sound. It doesn't mute the stereo, but that is a Toyota problem not Moto.

Nice job man. Does it use an external speaker since it doesn't mute the stereo? I was trying to decide between that one and the parrot ck3100, but I don't think the mute will work with either.

This is a nice kit. I wanted the ck3100 because of the external display, but I was worried about getting the thing hooked up to the stereo. As we talked about before, I just could not get anyone to tell me they could do it. So, I waited till I could find a ihf1000 then ordered it. If you want to meet up sometime let me know. I wouldn't care at all if you wanted to take a peak. I graduated on Saturday, so I have six weeks on my hand till residency, but will be moving in two weeks.

Why doesn't it mute the stereo? Did you hook up the mut output to the mute wire of the stereo?

I don't have it in front of me, but in this board I've found the specs for the mute wire. And others who say they got the mute to work with other BT kits.

I want to figure it out too; I'm about to install one. Where'd you put the mic? I'm afraid of taking apart the headliner with its side airbags....

Also, I wonder what would happen if you tapped the powered speaker output into the passenger door speaker's wires....

I had CircuitCity install mine because I didn't have time that week, and wanted it in. I might take apart the dash and see what I can find. I think the mute line is in the amp, not just a wire you can tap. I may be wrong. Also, I have heard of people tapping into the driver and passenger speaker wires on other toyotas for parrot kits, but I have never done this and was afraid to get into it. I may do some more research and see what I can find. If you have anymore knowledge of it, please post and let us know.... Enjoy the kit.

Is there any updates to this?

I brought IHF-850 and want to mute stereo. I have a non-JBL.
Any body tried to connect to the OEM speakers and use the mute function?

Thanks
