Newly rebuit 22re questions

Last weekend I istalled a rebuilt 22re into my 1988 4Runner. I know that engines lack performance when new but I have a feeling that there could be something slightly wrong. Engine timing is spot on, valve clearances are set...

1. I have almost no low end power, even with a higher torque cam installed, and oversize valves.

2. When accelerating there is a noticable pulling feeling, like quick bursts of power. Its slight but I know it wasn't there before. I think it could be something with the EFI.

I have to say the engine only has about 30-40 miles on it so far, so it could very well be just new kinks that need to be worked in. If anyone has experienced this with a new engine, advice would be great.

Oh yeah, and the cat was replaced as well...was almost completely clogged.

Not sure what to tell you, but you might want to check into fuel stuff like you said. I rebuilt my 22re 4 months ago and when I first started it up it had about the same power as before, but has gained some ever since then from breaking in. I put a high torque cam also and haven't run into that problem.
