Well I don't think we'll see too much discounting going on for the rest of the year. Maybe my '11 LTD will have some collector value, huh?
I gotta tell you guys, I'm stuck behind enemy lines here in Detroit (not for long though..) and they are dancing in the streets over GM rising from the ashes to triumphantly reclaim the No. 1 spot from Toyota.
I told a guy yesterday that this seems to me like being proud of kicking the ass of a kid with cancer. I mean really....wtf?

Isn't that something? No new car production till November/December, so like you, I would think that means, no more 2011 LTD's.

Go slap all your English teachers, as they failed to teach you anything. What you have quoted clearly states that they are at HALF capacity and won't return to NORMAL (or full) production until November or December. HALF, not NONE.
New vehicles coming from Japan will be coming in smaller batches, that is all.

Especially considering that they wouldn't even exist without my tax dollars saving their bacon. Toyota will overcome this temporary problem, and their new factories will be more productive and of a higher quality than ever before. On the other hand, GM is stuck with the same management and union leadership that took them to the brink of destruction the first time but there will be no more bailouts when they run it into the ground again.
Don't get me wrong, I love this country and everything it's Constitution provides... but a large swath of my fellow Americans have forgotten that freedom comes with responsibility and not a guarantee nor a right to the success of others. The Big Three are just the best example of that.

I am currently thinking of ordering a TE here within the next two months as currently my dealer only has fully loaded TE's. But what do you guys think about the disaster at Fukushima? It sounds like an irrational fear, but knowing people who live in Japan, and the crack down they are doing over there it makes me a bit worried. Are there strict tests being done on goods (my future TE) for radiation? I heard a bit about imports being tested but there wasn't to much information.

I know there is little information available, but there is nothing for you to be worried about. You get exposed to more radiation on a sunny day in July than you would get from an 4Runner coming from Japan.
However, parts are in short supply, so you might be waiting a long time if you want a specific combination not readily available on the dealer lots. I'd rethink your decision to avoid the fully loaded models as you may be waiting a while longer than normal for a special order to be filled.

+1. And since they WILL be in short supply, don't think dealers won't be ordering mostly loaded models anyway. All about the margin, baby.
While that is very true, the stuff that is already in our systems is not the same stuff or to the extent that is coming out of that reactor as we speak.
As far as the 4runner, I honestly have no need for nav or anything that comes with it. Along with that I don't want to pay the extra 5 grand for those things I would rarely use. That extra cash could go towards mods and school

Oh, FFS! The reactor is nowhere near the production plant. The Japanese government has sealed off the area around Fukushima, so no parts plants will be operating there any way. Toyota isn't going to produce and sell a car that has measurable radioactivity.
I'm going to guess that nothing I write is going to make a difference, so I'll move on now.
Woah calm down there for a second. It was just a question. I was also going to ask where the toyota plant was located. I meant no harm and did not say you were wrong. I apologize if I came off of ignorant and stubborn. I didnt come here to gain enemies, just an opinion on if ordering a new 4Runner would be the best idea at this current point in time. And thank you for replying. I am not trying to start fights, especially with a fellow Seattlite :thumb3:

It's cool. I'm just a tad touchy due to the general OMGWTFBBQ!!! regarding Japan. My mom calls me weekly from rural America convinced that I'm glowing in the dark due to all fallout. For reference, Tahara (where 4Runners are built) is as far from Fukushima as Seattle is from Portland, OR.
I'm not mad at anyone here, sorry if it came across that way. I just don't want to see paranoia and irrational fear prevent people from doing the one thing that will best help Japan recover: buying their products. It's not like the Chinese or Koreans need any more of our money.

I know what you mean about the paranoid people. I was not aware that the plant was that far south. For some reason I thought it was on the north end of the country. Tahara is actually very close to where a good friend of mine lives. I am all in support of Japan.
On a different note. The only Mag Gray Trail around here looks to be at Bellevue Toyota and they want 42k. Of course all of that would be nice, but I cant justify paying 40k+ not to mention that is not where the salesman I would like to use is located. I have only seen 2 Trails so far in the surrounding Seattle dealers.

I paid $38,949 for my TE with KDSS and Nav and a port installed remote start that I added after the fact. When you add in T+T+L you get into the $43k range. I used the internet Manager from Toyota of Lake City, a guy named Steve Kim. Who you use is up to you, but don't pay more than that for a fully loaded TE. I had to get mine ordered because there were none on the West coast so there is zero reason to pay more for one sitting on their lot.
