Next Generation T4R

Will 2008 (calendar year 2007) be the next generation T4R? Any insight into what that might be? Any words on potential for Hybrid system? With growth of the new RAV4 and then Highlander, should we expect a larger T4R also?

Should be every 4 years... or so. I doubt they would completely change the whole look of it... but definitly it'll be bigger in size as well as some hybrid technology. electric=instant torque.... plus it'll save us some gas money.

Lets look at the history:

84 to 89 Generation 1 (6 years)

90 to 95 Generation 2 (6 years)

96 to 02 Generation 3 (7 years)

2008 or 2009 might be a good guess. Also things are changing in the auto market (i.e. GAS prices), which could throw a monkey wrench in the whole formula.

I went to the Falcon fottball game last Sunday and during a break in the game they brought out a 2006 Jeep Comander, which was like a Chevy Suburban or Ford Excursion. I thought, talk about bad timing to bring out a new MONSTER vehicle. Hopefully, Toyota will stay ahead of the market.

I don't think it will get bigger, if anything lighter and more efficient/powerful.

It's a little larger than a Grand Cherokee, but it's not the same size as the Suburban or Excursion. The Commander is only 2 inches longer than a Grand Cherokee.

Jeep Commander

I'm not sure how their marketing department missed this one....


The Jeep website touts the Commander as the only 7 passenger Jeep. Sounds big, right? But then they give you this picture where you can see somebody sitting in the back seat. The woman can't even extend her knees b/c it is so cramped. Even the middle passenger seems to have to sit sideways. Couldn't they have gotten smaller people to take this photo to give the illusion of comfort??

I stand corrected. It sure looked like a big ass rig when it came out on the field, but it sure looks small when 4 people are sitting in it.

I checked the commander out at the state fair yesterday. It's pretty cool, but had a sticker of $44k. Gas mileage sucked like expected. I sat in the middle row, and was fine. I'm 5'10". I did like the little sun roofs in the back. The leather seats were real nice, but when if it came down to buying one...I'd pass. I'm wondering when the car market is going to be impacted with gas. It seemed to me they were full steam ahead as far as increasing car prices. One of my friends was looking at the g35 sedan. It had a sticker of $38K WTF? Are they kidding. I guess I'm getting old or something. The best was the $46k double max cab. It didn;t even list mileage, but I guess if your spending $46k on a pick'em up truck, you shouldn't worry about it.

I was a little ticked Toyota didn't have T4R sport on display. They had a concept truck that was a little wild. I was hoping to see the FJ, but it wasn't there either.
