NGK bkr7ekc for Supercharger instead of IK22s

I have searched for days now and finally found a NGK dual ground plug in the correct two step cooler range. Has anyone used these yet? My supercharger came with IK20s and I could clearly see erosion on 3 out of 6. I am going to order the URD 7th kit and I know it comes with IK22s but have read that some experience early wear on them, others with good results. This plug is not iridium but it is dual ground like we are supposed to run.

The NGK will definitley work. The most important part is the 2 steps cooler. This reduces combustion chamber temps. 4Runners are a wasted spark ignition system, which means the spark plugs fire every time the a piston goes through a stroke ie. it fires on power and exhaust strokes. This is why Toyota recommends the dual ground electrode plugs as they wear half as fast. I run the IK22 in my supercharged runner right now and they work great. However, they definitely do wear faster than dual ground. It really comes down to personal preference, iridium will produce a more powerful spark but will wear faster.

I've used the IK22's that came with URD's kit and haven't had a problem. Not a lot of miles, but also zero issues. I'm glad you found the NGK. Looked them up and bookmarked. When it's time to change them I'll go with these. The ones I found say they're nickel? I'd be curious if someone has used them yet and how long they last.

IK22's in a supercharged engine will last at least 30K miles, some get more than that. A dual ground plug will last longer but restrict the flame kernel more which will have a slight negative affect on performance.

If you drive you 4Runner 5,000 miles annually like I do, then I can expect 5-6 years per set of plugs. That's good enough for me. If you are not supercharged though, the IK22's are a waste of money as you won't see any noticeable performance boost from them and there's absolutely no need for a colder spark plug.
