I'm trying not to get too excited!

I'll be curious to see if they put Pekka back in net. One side of me says they have to. But the other side says that considering how he's started in the series, they may pull him to maybe spark the team. Happened with Fleury. But then again, Fleury wasn't really the starter going into the playoffs.

The PENS won despite the PREDS constant cross checking, punching and slashing. It is hard for me believe these incidents were missed by the refs. Overlooked, yes.
I don't like the refs getting involved in the small stuff, but this is ridiculous.

It's disgusting, but it's been going on all playoffs. Boarding, constant crosschecking, punching after the whistle, even the blatant headshot on Crosby in the Capitals series, it's really been difficult to watch as a fan. Just hope the Pens can survive and win 2 more games and it will all be worth it. Glad I'm not the only one who sees it

Looking forward to tomorrow nights game. As a wings fan I hate the Pens. Would love to see a new team win the cup.

Well, we've got a series! Definitely pretty nervous. Even though it's tied 2-2, it feels like the Preds have outplayed the Pens for the majority of it. That and Pekka definitely seems to be back to the form he was in at the start of the playoffs. Hopefully he'll start playing like he did in the first two games again!

And he did! In three games he's given up 9 goals on 45 shots. Certainly bodes well for the Pens if they should return home. Especially given how mental goaltending is. Hopefully it won't be necessary and they close it out in game 6!

You mean over as in the Pens would already have the cup? Because they got the Lundqvist monkey off their back last year!

Disagree. Lundquist on Nashville would be a completely different task. It's a team sport. Lindquist very rarely let's in a bad goal. If the Pens did well the.n it was because they soundly beat the Ranger team (and I despise the Rangers btw). We don't see Rinne much here in the Northeast but I don't think I've ever seen such an awkward, uncoordinated professional goaltender. Like he's too big for himself. Very odd dude. They should trade some talent to NJ for Schneider.

I definitely agree about the team sport aspect, but I honestly feel the NHL playoffs are a different animal. A team can ride a hot goaltender all the way to the cup. And given Pekka's start (consider 3 goals allowed in 4 games to the #1 seeded Blackhawks), you could make a strong argument that he was one of the favorites to win the Con Smythe going into the finals. I do agree that he is a very interesting goaltender. His in-goal play when he's on is ridiculous. But his out of goal play as well as his puck handling can often leave me scratching my head.

Bottom line is that it's going to rely heavily on his play. If he has a solid game 4 and they win, it's going to be interesting how he handles going back to Pitt. Especially given how mental goaltenders seem to be.

Pens win! What a game. Wish it was more of a clean win. That play in the 2nd was definitely unfortunate. Why I always hope that the refs err on the side of late whistles in those situations being they have replay to fall back on. But, in the end you have to play on. Maybe the refs tried to make it up to them with penalties. 5 to 0 from that point on.

Either way, I'm stoked! Would have loved to see them finally win one on home ice, but maybe next year?!

Good series over all, but the better team won in the end!

Back to back cups for the first time in the salary cap era!

Congrats to the Pens. I'm not a fan of theirs and usually side against them but hey, so long as the Rangers don't win I'm good.

Nothing wrong with that win. The refs blow the whistle when sticks begin to poke, chop and slash around the goalie to free up the puck.
