I've got one that comes into the shop with 250k that's nearly that nice.
the lady that owns it take extremely good care of it.

I did say NEARLY, the one in the link is aweful pretty.
I'd almost feel bad bashing around in the woods with it ;)

Who in their right mind would pay $24K (or more) for a 4Runner that probably sold for about $13K brand new?

Might as well just flush your money down the toilet.

People with a lot of money;I'd pay mid teens for one in that shape but $24k is a bit rediculous but you never know how some cars can really appreciate with a certain market and really nice 1st gens are getting far and inbetween so they may be a collectible market but some people enjoy owning something that you don't see everyday and that's worth the price of admission.

The seller is laughing all the way to the bank.

$13k in 1986 money, but yeah, some of those older Utility Vehicles are costing far more than they are actually worth. You would die if you would have seen how much 1993 Land Rover Defender 110's go for, ita sickening, and you dont really get much for the money either, just a basic 4x4 vehicle...

At 3% compounded growth, that $13,000 is already about $30,000. If they were investing, they could have found better than 3%, and if they had it to drive it, it doesn't look like they enjoyed it much either roughness-wise or distance-wise.

I'd buy it in a heart beat if I had the $$$ because I'd treasure it like the unopened Matchbox '85 Runner that I already have.

When I was looking for a Runner, I came across an '85 in really good shape and very clean (not nearly as good as this one though) that only had 75k on it and everything was original. It was owned by an older guy in Northern Cali that bought it new and he was only asking $4,000. I was unable to get together an extra $4k at the time and ended up later finding my '03 for much more :)
