Nitrous in a T4R?

I thought about converting an old nitrous bottle for CO2 or on board air once, does that count? Never understood trying to go fast in a 4Runner, unless maybe you take it all the way to the Cyclone/Typhoon level.

Mostly I'd be doing because nobody else does it, and sometimes you just need a little more horsepower to get a truck out of and of a ditch. I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes.

Last time I was stuck in a ditch I distinctly remember wishing I had NOS... or was it 4WD? Ehhh it was definitely one of the two.

NOS in a 4Runner is probably not the best idea, but trying to use NOS like a locker is a really bad idea.

Do it but make sure you use a wet system. Don't want to burn any piston or anything.


I could see using NOS to clear a stream or a river...

The gearing on your truck is designed for a specific amount of power. I would imagine if you tried to flood the system with NOS while in 4WD you would create your own blow off valve noise which would be the drive shaft, transfer case, and differential screaming into annihilation. Probably best to leave NOS on the streets and maybe consider a diesel. Then you will have a turbo and won't be considered rice.....

I'm going to set up a "bad idea fund" where you can directly deposit the money you would've spent on nitrous and repairing all the engine/drivetrain damage as a result. It'll save you the headache of ordering, waiting patiently, installing, fixing, etc.; I'll also keep you posted on all the wise investments I make with the fund.

you know what i guess i will be the odd ball out on this one, coming from a NOS and turbo past, i have used one or the other and a combination of both, and i will say this, taking into consideration the amount of serious engine mods coupled with the tranny and driveline mods, which get very expensive, the one of a kind factor goes way way up. If you plan on rebuilding the motor soon, then i say go for it slap some NOS on there and have a bit of fun, but keep in mind the motor will go, its just a matter of when.

Fun? Sure, but not in a 4Runner and not without a full engine rebuild to handle it too (plus beefing up the drive train)... by the time you're done you could've just bought a sweet sports car and have fun going fast in something that is built to go fast.
