Nitto Terra Grappler owners

I was wanting to find out what Nitto Terra Grappler owners on here paid. I just called Discount Tire and the guy quoted me $526 out the door for 4 tires with free shipping.

size is a good question.i went to BIG O and paid 770 for 4. including install and all the waranty nonsense. i have 265/70/r17.
 
If you could get something in writing or have him set it up in the deal for the installation, that sounds like a pretty good deal

That was what I was thinking. I really want the Kelly Safari TSR but the price has gone up and the guy I was getting a good deal from went up $100 on them and I have seen really good reviews on the Terra Grappler.

I called the store that is about a mile or two from my house and they quoted me $740 with $50 discount for being an Toyota FJ Cruiser Community member which would make it $690. If they are $526 from the website they can ship them to me for free then I can go and get them installed at the Discount by my house and it would run about $80 so I would hopefully end up saving a little bit of money.
 
Yes Discount Tire Direct is great and beats Discount Tire for price plus there is no tax (anything to stick it to Uncle Sam). $20 for an install at the DT store but if you have TPMS then there is an additional $5 per wheel for the rebuild but the still beats the store price.

Side question, does everyone have the TPMS rebuilt with each tire install? This is my first vehicle with the system.

I think you are comparing prices of two different tires. The 'P-Metric', 4 ply tires are $576 (-50) from DTonline (stores will match),, The LT / Load Range 'E', 10 ply rated ones are $740.

I've got the P-Metrics on my 4Runner and I run the LTs on my FJ offroader. The tread pattern is the same. Load ability and puncture protection is way, way different.

Yes they are the P-Metrics. Not going with a load range E on them. I probably do 70/30 on road/off road.

I have been looking at the P-rated TGs for a long time. No matter how many times I change up my tire list they are always near the top (although i'm not a huge fan of the lighting bolts). Which store do you normally go to? I've spoke with the guys at Rivergate, Brentwood, and Lebanon about various price matching and they have all been very helpful.

Yeah it is the same here. I see other tires that I really like but for some reason the Nitto's are always at the top. I called this guy at DiscountTireDirect and I have his extension and name if you want to call him. Also sign up at Toyota FJ Cruiser Community and you can get $50 off. I also called the Discount Tire store in Hendersonville which is about 2 miles from my house and they are very helpful also. When do you plan on getting yours?

Yea sure, shoot me a PM with the information. So the $50 FJ discount applies to Discount Tire Direct's internet pricing? For some reason I thought that it only applied to the higher, advertised Discount Tire prices. If so, that is great bc I think I remember them being on sale on ebay a while back for $575 shipped. So $525 w/ discount for tires + $24(19+5 TPMS)x4 for install = ~$621 OTD!:bluejump: Very nice!

That questions has two sides. On the one hand, I WANT the tires now b/c the ones I have are too "tame" in my opinion. However, on the other, logical hand, my current tires are wearing fine and only have 20k miles on them. Basically, I think I may end up just waiting until mine are a little more worn before changing over.

Btw, I'm down around Gallatin/Hendersonville all the time. I grew up not too far down the road (other side of Westmoreland). My buddy owns a greek restaurant on the square in Gallatin, Grecians. Let me know when you get your tires...I wouldn't mind checking them out in person.

Yeah so a little over $600 for the total. I asked the guy at DTD's again and he said he would accept the $50 off. I went back to Toyota FJ Cruiser Community and there it says for 5 tires but the guy is taking off $50 without me buying 5 so I am taking it!!

Awesome man! I have found a couple of fun trails right off of exit 12 on Vietnam Vets Blvd. Next time you are up this way let me know and we can go check them out. Nothing too extreme and if you want I can send you a link on Google Earth with where they are located!! I might have to check out his restaurant soon!

Thats great man, I may go ahead and jump on these myself then as I'm down to ~4/32" on my tires. I keep telling myself its due to "safety reasons," which is partly true, but its mainly due to me wanting to get rid of the highway tires.

Sure, that sounds good too. Send me a link if you don't mind. I wasn't aware there were any trails around that area. I should be up there sometime soon anyway as I've been wanting to try out Lock 4.

I know what you mean!! I still have the Bridgestone Duelers on my 4Runner and I am SO ready to get rid of them. Yeah a friend of mine that has a Tacoma found them. They aren't that long but quite fun! Message me your email and I will send a Google Earth link to where they are. Lock 4 is fun! Do you mountain bike or hike?
