Nitto tires ranked # 1

Since I know how much everyone loves to talk tires, I thought I would share this article with yall. I was just browsing the internet looking at tire stuff since I'm about to replace mine. Anyways this article is pretty interesting to read especially since REVOs and BFGS get most of the attention around here. Read it and post your responses.

The Revos do have a mileage warranty but longtime Nitto owners haven't reported unusual wear and their treadwear rating is a stout 500. If you rarely offroad the Revos might be the best bet for daily driving duties but IMO I'd rather have the Nittos for more occasional off road trips since they are a tad more aggressive.
 
I have never had REVO's but I just can't see how they could be better than my Nitto's and Consumer Reports agrees. Plus the Nitto's were quite a bit cheaper. To top it off I think they look the best out of similar rated/use tires.
 
They seem to be an incredible bang for the buck. If I didn't feel I needed an L/T rated tire, I'd be dissapointed I didn't get 'em.

I love my Nittos and have no unusual wear, but I have to caution everyone about treadwear ratings.

Treadwear ratings are set by manufacturers, and there is no set standard among all of them. The rating is specific to the manufacturer, meaning a wear rating of 500 is twice as long as 250 ONLY within that manufacturer's lines.

So....a Nitto rating of 500 is twice as good as a Nitto tire rated at 250.....not a Bridgestone tire rated at 250.
 
I'm not surprised that they did so well.

Nitto, is a subsidiary of Toyo.

Toyo has been the #1 rated tire in product quality, for the last 8 years. :)
 
what tires are you guys speaking of, i know the mud grappler isnt cheaper than a REVO, i just got quoted 287 a piece the other day, and its not even a very big size!!(33x11.50) but ill agree, i had toyo proxes on my truck when it had the 20"s on it, and they were a great tire, even pulled a stuck range rover out of the mud up a hill in clay... dont ask, way to difficult to imagine, wouldnt want your head to explode....

Stands for Light Truck as opposed to P for passenger tire. L/Ts have thicker sidewalls (more plies). Tougher and heavier but also ride a little rougher. P=4 plies. L/Ts are either C,D,E which are 6,8,10 plies. A lot of rough off-roading has been done on this forum with P rated tires and no problems. Can't say for sure that I need L/T, I just feel I do.

Well the only problem with that line of thought is that little brother Nitto also beat out big brother Toyo among the others.
 
Off-Road

Unless I missed s/t, the article doesn't indicate that off-road performance was part of the ratings, or does it? So, for those who have them, how are they in sand, mud, etc.?
 
look at the last paragraph, says it was good in the sand, mud, rain... had a buddy that had them and he didnt really like them, but he is pretty picky...

in what? the off road category? Yeah no kidding, have you seen toyo's light truck tires for more off road capability? they are a joke...Nitto certainly has them on that.
 
Sounds like most people have good things to say about the Nittos. The article was just interesting to me cause I had never heard much about them.
 
I've had my TGs on for a week now. HUGE improvement over the stock Dunlops. I've been through mud and snow so far and they have done all I've asked of them. I'll put them in the sand this summer.
